Scoil Bhríde, Eglantine

We are an all girls primary school located close to the centre of Douglas in Cork City, Ireland. We are in the parish of Ballinlough with aprox. 550 pupils, ranging from 4 to 13 years of age.  At the helm of our school is our Principal, Mr. Eoin Kennedy, who busies himself making sure the day to day running of our school is carried out smoothly & efficiently.  He is supported by his loyal team of teachers and auxiliary staff working together to ensure that the children get the best start in life both educationally and developmentally.  Thank you for visiting our website & we hope you enjoy exploring it further & finding out more about us.

Heritage Projects

Along with many schools across the city and county, the girls of Eglantine have been taking part in Discover Cork Schools’ Heritage Project. Led by Cllr Kieran McCarthy (Ind.), this project encourages students to celebrate, highlight, debate and create fresh approaches to our cultural heritage.

This year’s theme is ‘Living Through History’ which is particularly appropriate given the unprecedented times in which we find ourselves.

The centenary offered a great opportunity to learn about events unique to the city of Cork. Jane and Lucy from 5th Class said, “We chose the Burning of Cork because we love learning about the war and have family connections. We especially enjoyed listening to the interesting stories of Flor O’Leary (Jane’s grandad).”
Ellie chose Tomás MacCurtain and Terence McSwiney because “it was their 100th anniversary of their deaths this year. I never knew they were actually close friends even though their upbringings and even their deaths were very different.”
